From wrestling inflatable dolls to donning Ghostbusters costumes and even incorporating basketball and Space Jam into their routines, it's clear that they enjoy shaking things up and entertaining fans, even if it's likely to leave some traditionalists, such as Jim Cornette, in a state of shock and outrage.
You might have mixed up your sports metaphors there. While the event was called Slam Dunk, a basketball term, "home run," is used in baseball. But regardless, I understand what you mean! The Elite's love of basketball and willingness to inject humor and fun into their matches made for a memorable segment on the show.
It sounds like The Elite's basketball-themed match against AR Fox and Top Flight on AEW Rampage was a fun and lighthearted affair. The two teams incorporated basketball references and even used the ball to attack each other. The Elite won the match, but it also helped progress the storyline of Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks. Towards the end of the game, Malakai Black and Brodie, King of the House of Black, appeared and inserted themselves into the story, which could lead to a big game at Revolution. Overall, while the Slam Dunk match was fun, the storylines in AEW are still progressing in a serious direction.
Next week, Action Andretti and Sammy Guevara are set to face each other in a one-on-one matchup. During Ricky Starks' match against Daniel Garcia on the February 17 edition of AEW Rampage, Andretti thwarted the Jericho Appreciation Society's attempt to interfere, which ultimately sparked a brawl between Andretti and Guevara. Shortly after that, Guevara requested a match against Andretti, leading to this upcoming clash between the two competitors.
